Self- Assessment

Image
Blog Post #5  From reading the rubric on the assignments page for our blogs, I think I do a good job about including everything I need to in order to do good. The only thing I need to work on is that I need to include sources from the site I use in some of blog posts. I don't have anything that I stress about the work for blogs. I feel confident in what I write so I don't get too confused on the assignment. I feel that I do put in effort into my blogs and assignments in general. For the most part I try to give myself enough time to complete my assignments, I give myself two to three days to complete assignments. Procrastinating is really bad, because I feel that the work is too rushed and its not your best work that you could put out. I sometimes review my work for grammar and readability. I know I should review my blogs more often so that I know I have proper grammar and mechanics.  For the most part I don't have a problem with other people looking at my blog posts becau

Research About Aruba

Image
Aruba was inhabited by the Arawak Amerindian populations prior to European discovery. It was claimed by the Spanish in 1499 and, because of its lack of natural resources suitable for trade, Aruba, along with Bonaire and Curacao, was considered part of the Islas Inutiles (Useless Islands). The island was finally used for cattle raising and wood cutting. The arrival of the oil industry modernized the island during the 1920s and raised the standard of living significantly. This generated thousands of jobs, particularly at the height of World War II, when gasoline was in high demand, with the Lago Oil and Transport Company on the east end and The Eagle Oil Refining Company on the west. Aruba started to concentrate on tourism to bolster the island's economy as the war came to a close. The tourism sector expanded dramatically as soon as the oil refinery closed. Tourism and oil refining are contributing significantly to the economy to this day. Aruba's demographics are mixed with sign

Puerto Rico's History

Image
Puerto Rico was settled by the Ortoiroid people, who came South Americas main land around 2000 B.C.E. It's said that little is known about the Ortoiroid people and their culture or what kind of impact they had when they settled, the only thing that people know is that they were hunters and fishermen. The Ortoiroid were the first people to inhabit Puerto Rico but the slowly faded out of the island around 400 B.C.E and the Taino people can next to settle on the island. They'd come to the island between the 7th and 11th centuries, their major contribution to Puerto Rico was establishing agriculture, and growing primary crops like yuca, or cassava ( another name for yuca.). The Taino people named the island Boriken or Land of the Valiant Lord, which is a term that the country of Puerto Rico use today to reference both the island and people on the island.  By the time the Spanish came to conquer the island it had already been attacked by the rival Caribs.  When Spain had claimed Pu

Why the Dominican Republic should be your next travel destination

Image
The Dominican Republic is one of the countries that shares the island( Haiti is the other country) called Hispaniola, which was originally named Ayiti. Christopher Columbus claimed the island during his voyage. The Dominican Republic today is the second largest Caribbean island and the second largest population with 10 million people over 48,445 square kilometers. Spain used the Dominican Republic for plantations, which in turn brought slaves to the island for labor. Ever since slavery has ended the Dominican Republic has relied on tourism, and agricultural resources for their economy.   Along the north coast of the Dominican Republic is a very pretty beach, with golden sand and lined with highly rated resorts known as Playa Dorada. If crowded areas with lots of tourist are not your thing then Playa Dorada is a great travel destination with a tranquil feel to the area. Although it's not as packed as if you were to go to Punta Cana its a beautiful area for swimming and snorkeling.

A Little About Me

Image
Hi everyone. My name is D'Angelo. I'm 19 years old, and some of my hobbies are to draw, playing soccer, and play video games in my free time. I have a dog named Daisy who I love to take walks with, she has a ton energy so she keeps me on my toes. I choose to major in Digital Media because it has many ties to drawing, for example you can go into the logo making field, or you can go into video game design. I hope everyone got to learn a little about me, my hobbies, and my dog.
